HOW DO I ACCESS THE SERVICE?
The service can be accessed through the General Practitioner, Macmillan or District Nurse, if you are at home. If an in-patient at the hospital, the hospital nurses or doctors can refer directly to us.
IS THERE A CHARGE FOR THE HOSPICE SERVICE?
There is no charge, the Hospice service is free.
HOW LONG DO PEOPLE STAY AT THE HOSPICE?
Most people come into the Hospice for a period of one to two weeks, although a small number will stay longer if they have medical and nursing needs which require this.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GO HOME?
Individual care needs will have been reviewed during your Hospice stay. This information is then used by the Hospice as a basis for planning (in consultation with Health and Social Services) the level of care and support required after discharge. The Hospice Day Unit can also provide ongoing support after discharge through its therapy service and / or day unit attendance.
WHAT DOES THE DAY HOSPICE PROVIDE?
Day Hospice has 10 places a day and provides a range of complimentary therapies which include;
Reflexology
Aromatherapy
Reiki
Indian Head Massage
Snoezelen Room / Sensory Stimulation
Dare Care also provide opportunity for;
Social Interaction
Appropriate Physical Care
Art Therapy
Recreational Activities
HOW DO I ACCESS THE DAY HOSPICE SERVICE?
You can access the service through your General Practitioner, Macmillan or District Nurse, if you are at home.If you are an in-patient at the hospital and needing some extra support on discharge the hospital nurses or doctors can refer directly to us. Or you or your family can make contact directly with the Hospice on 01928 719454. You will need to ask to speak to the Day Care Sister or in their absence the Director of Clinical Services. In all cases it will be necessary to inform your own doctor (G.P.) and request consent for complimentary therapies, if required.
WILL I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME WHEN I ATTEND DAY HOSPICE?
Yes you will need to bring medication you would normally take during the period of attendance.
You will not need to bring lunch as this is provided along with light refreshments during your visit. A charge of £1.00 daily is made for this service.
